The Bronxville Women's Club is thrilled to announce Oxana Mikhailoff as the new artistic director of the Midland Music Series. The series' founder, Joyce Balint, stepped down last spring after many years as its artistic director. Joyce Balint has since been appointed as President of the Bronxville Women's Club. Following is a brief biography of Ms. Mikhailoff:
Oxana Mikhailoff, a member of the Bronxville Women's Club, is a concert pianist who also maintains an active teaching schedule. This Russian-born American pianist has won many awards at Piano Competitions including the Martha Argerich International Piano Competition. Oxana had her Carnegie Hall Debut in 1999 followed by an All-Chopin recital dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the composer's death the same year. Ms. Mikhailoff appears regularly on the East coast playing solo and chamber music concerts. She has a large private studio and also teaches at the Crestwood Music Education Center in Eastchester. Of her playing, Vladimir Feltsman said "...(Oxana Mikhailoff) is a mature and accomplished musician...Her playing has character, imagination, and is poetic. She has a strong personality and stage presence..." Ms. Mikhailoff and her husband, William Mackoff, live in Mt. Vernon.

"Music and Images" offers two emotional perspectives on the same story : (1) Ten specific memories of George Enescu's childhood, circa 1890, expressed through his Hungarian-style music "Impressions d'Enfance" and (2) thirty-seven 21st Century photographic images by Peter Laytin projected one at the time through the course of Enescu's music. Peter Laytin is a Scarsdale native. Other works include Prokofiev's Violin Sonata D Major and Moszkowski's Suite for Two Violins and Piano.
